What a phenomenal weekend! The Never Say Never Foundation’s Pirate Camp was hosted this past weekend by Sailability Greater Tampa Bay and the Clearwater Community Sailing Center. The camp was established five years ago for children with limb loss and their families. It served for these kids to be kids. And, the families found a support and sharing of experiences. The exposure for the participants to our water sports along with other extreme sports experiences, showed them that they could do whatever they chose to do and “never say never”.

This was the Foundation’s 5th Annual Pirate Camp and was the culmination of their fundraising efforts throughout the year. The results were that 40 families from around the country got to share and experience something they would have not dreamed of.

There were about eight or more paralympians present at camp, including one of our Sonar silver medalists, Brad Kendell. These athletes mingled and shared throughout the weekend with our pirates and their families. There were 22 new families in attendance. Needless to say, this was our largest camp. And all couldn’t stop talking about what it will be like for the 2017 camp.

Though the Pirates came with some volunteers, they still needed more assistance. We were fortunate to have Mayor Cretekos serve lunch on Friday, the Dunedin Windlasses with their sailing support throughout the weekend and CCSC’s phenomenal staff support of our guests. Thanks again to all who participated and supported this wonderful event!
